Townsend Community School is a dropout prevention and credit recovery high school designed to support students and their families during their journey through high school. All students in grades 9-12, up through the age of 21, are eligible to enroll at TCS whether they are credit deficient, or they simply prefer a non-traditional option. Located in the charming community of Castalia, and sponsored by Margaretta Local Schools, we serve students throughout the surrounding six counties: Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca. We provide daily busing routes to assist students with having transportation opportunities to and from school. We pride ourselves on the strong relationships and connections that our staff develop with students and their families. We believe that students come first. We focus on helping students overcome life challenges they are facing so that they can focus on their education and their future career beyond high school.

Our highly qualified and dedicated staff, our user-friendly curriculum, and our modern facility allow each student to succeed in his or her unique way. TCS uses a blended learning model, which is a combination of seat time (in-person attendance) and online learning that takes place outside of the school building. Students also have the flexibility to work a job while in school and earn elective credits through our CBI program.

We provide a safe and innovative learning environment that is designed to help our students develop positive self worth and confidence in themselves. Our accommodating and caring nature not only motivates students to learn, but also allows students to access their education at their own pace, which fosters the best version of themselves. We are passionate about helping our students overcome obstacles, assisting them in finding academic success, and preparing them for the future!
